Idukki
Idukki district is one among the 14 districts of Kerala state, The district headquarters is located at Kuyilimala in Painavu.The name of the district is derived from the malayalam word Idukki, meaning narrow gauge.Idukki is a hilly district having many unique topographical and geographical characteristics.There are eleven peaks in the district, which exceed a height of 6000 ft above MSL. The highest peak in Kerala, Anaimudi is located in the Kannan Devan Hills village of Devikulam taluk.
The High land area is covered by forest soil (Alluvial soil) and the other parts by laterite soil.The climate undergoes a sudden variation as we go from west to east.

Eravikulam National Park
The National Park situated 144 km away from Cochin and 15 km from Munnar. A variety of animals and medicinal plants are seen here. This is the place where 'Neelakurinji' blossoms. Half of the world population of rare mountain goat is in Rajamala Wild Life Sanctury. Eravikulam National Park is home to the Nilgiri Tahr. The total number of Nilgiri Tahrs in Rajamala is estimated at 1000. The Anamudi peak (8841 ft) is located in the southern region of the park.

Marayoor is situated 41km from Munnar. The Sandal forests, Sandal Wood Factory of the Forest Department, Children's Park, Rajiv Gandhi National Park, Thoovanam Waterfalls, Marayoor Jaggery, Century old cells of Hermits etc. are the major attractions of this place. Marayoor is also a unique place where tourism meets adventure. The rare Neelakurinji flower is native to this region.

Peerumedu
Peerumedu is a place famous for Coffee and Tea estates, situated 75 km away from Kottayam on the way to Idukki. Peerumedu is a small hill station. Peerumedu is 85 kms east to Kottayam (travel time: 2 hours), on the way to Thekkady. There are frequent bus services from nearby cities of Kumily and Kottayam. Coffee, tea, pepper, cardamom and rubber flourish in what is the most fertile part of the Western Ghats. Broken only by spectacular waterfalls in the distance and wide open grasslands in places.

Ernakulam
Ernakulam District is a district of the state of Kerala in southern India. The district includes the largest metropolitan region of the stateGreater Cochin. Ernakulam District is the highest revenue yielding district in the state and is called and known as the commercial capital of Kerala.
It is surrounded by Thrissur District to the north, Idukki District to the east, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts to the south and Arabian sea to west. Its headquarters is located at Kakkanad, a suburb of Kochi city.
The language people speak in Ernakulam is Malayalam which is the mother-tongue of the State of Kerala. English is widely used in business circles.
Bolghatty Palace
A Scenic island near the city of Ernakulam, Bolghatty is famous for the Bolghatty Palace built by the Dutch in 1744 AD. This palace, once the residence of the British resident of Kochi, is now a KTDC (Kerala Tourism Development Corporation) hotel. Bolghatty Palace is on an island, off Cochin in the Arabian Sea. The building was once a Governor's palace for the Dutch and later the home of the British Governors.
The palace is two-storeyed and contains well-decorated bed chambers, a huge lounge wherein historical portraits are displayed. The ferry ride from the mainland Ernakulam to the island is a pleasurable experience. There is a golf course to boot.

Dutch Palace

Since then it came to be called the Dutch Palace, though at no time did the Portugese nor the Dutch stayed there. One of the oldest buildings in Kerala, the Mattancherry Palace is a portrait gallery of the kings of Cochin.
In the centre of the building, is the Coronation Hall where the Cochin Rajas held their coronations. Adjacent rooms contain 17th century Murals depicting scenes from the great Indian epic, the Ramayana. On display in the palace are the dresses, turbans, weapons and palanquins from that era.

The Jewish Synagogue

Rebuilt by Dutch after having been partially destroyed in the war of 1662 AD, the exquisite hand painted blue Chinese tiles offer an interesting sight. In mid-18th century, the clock tower was added. Not one of the nearly two hundred year old tiles resembles another. There are several finely wrought gold and silver crowns gifted to the synanogue by the various patrons. The Synagogue is open from 10 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 5 pm on all days except Saturdays and Jewish holidays.

Cochin Carnival

It has evolved as an occasion for the youth to enjoy the party-like atmosphere with unique games, competitions and illumination during these days, Fort Kochi puts on a festive look. The highlight of the Carnival is the massive procession on the New Year Day.
